To learn how to use Unity, I watched several video tutorials on Youtube and Udemy. I've tried to finish a Unity project on my own several times in the past, but this is the first one I've actually seen through to the end. This game was not intended for publication. I put it in my school files to show that I had my mastery of Unity and to be able to present a playable project.
I decided to make a 2D platformer for my first Unity project because it seemed like one of the best ways to learn the game engine. Setting up Tiles, coding basic movement (left right, jump, crouch), enemy management, animation, UI, game menus, sound design, everything. I followed a lot of tutorials to get to this final product, so it's not the most creative project, but it's the first playable product I've had the opportunity to create with Unity.
Today I've had the opportunity to work on a number of different projects, far more creative, far more complex. But this game is an anchor, a starting point that shows where I've come from and where I am today.
